ABOUT THE OLIVER E. POPE, SR. SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Oliver E. Pope Sr, Scholorship Fund is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law, and directly support our mission to provide essential resources and services to students in need.
The true cost of attending a four-year college or university extends well beyond tuition, required course materials, and room and board. The Oliver E. Pope, Sr. Scholarship Fund aims to support families with the full cost of a college education.
Attending college has many hidden cost. Some are listed below:
TRANSPORTATION
Students often require financial support for transportation to and from campus, as well as to internships and other off-campus educational opportunities. Without reliable and affordable transportation, many are unable to fully engage in the experiences that enrich their academic journey and career development.
TECHNOLOGY & ELECTRONICS
In today’s post-secondary education landscape, access to technology is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. Students need reliable computers, tablets, and smartphones to complete coursework, attend virtual classes, conduct research, and stay connected. Your support helps ensure that no student falls behind simply because they lack the tools required to succeed.
CLOTHING
Clothing is a fundamental need, even for college students. As students continue to grow and transition into adulthood, the clothes that served them throughout high school often no longer meet their needs in college. Your support helps ensure students have access to the clothing they need to feel confident, comfortable, and prepared for the challenges of academic and social life.
STUDENT ESSENTIALS
College students need more than books and tuition—they need the everyday essentials that support their well-being and academic success. Laundry supplies, along with the funds to wash and dry clothes, are vital for maintaining hygiene and confidence. Dorm essentials like sheets, pillowcases, towels, shower caddies, and storage bins help create a clean, functional living space that allows students to focus on their studies. School supplies such as notebooks, pens, and backpacks are equally critical. Your support ensures students don’t have to choose between basic needs and their future.
CLUB & ACTIVITY DUES
Clubs and activity-based organizations offer invaluable opportunities for students to engage socially, develop leadership skills, and begin building professional networks. However, many of these opportunities come with associated fees. Your support ensures that every student can participate, regardless of their financial background, helping them to foster connections and experiences that are integral to their personal and academic growth.
TOILETRIES &
PERSONAL CARE ITEMS
The cost of essential personal care items—such as soap, toothpaste, and hygiene products—has risen by over 30% in the past three years. In addition to these daily necessities, students also require bed linens and other basic supplies to make dorm living safe and comfortable. Your generosity helps ensure that financial hardship doesn’t compromise a student’s dignity or well-being.
